Climate change, Migration and Development: How to Maximise the Impact of African diaspora organisations?
ADEPT in partnership with the Forum des Organisations de Solidarité Internationale issues des Migrations (FORIM), the African Diaspora Policy Centre (ADPC) and the Association des Jeunes Guinéens de France (AJGF) organised the 4th edition of the Diaspora Development Dialogue (DDD4) on “Climate change, migration and Development: how to enhance the impact of African diaspora organisations?” held on Saturday, December 5 in Paris.
The seminar, held midway through the proceedings of the Paris Conference on Climate Change (COP 21), allowed us to deeply analyse the issue of climate change and human mobility. The event highlighted the influence of climate issues on migration in general and the important contribution of the African diaspora through local development projects and initiatives aiming to enhance and strengthen the resilience of local communities to the challenge brought by climate change.
Speakers included, Guinean ministers, Ms Kadiatou Ndiaye, Minister of Environment, Water Affairs and Forests, Mr Bailo Teliwel Diallo, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ms Dina Ionesco, Chief of Division – Migration, Environment, and Climate Change, IOM Geneva.
