Are you a small business in search of coaching and funding? WIDU.africa in collaboration with the African diaspora in Europe applies an innovative approach that combines funding and coaching to strengthen new and existing small businesses in Africa, leading to the creation of new jobs.
WIDU Africa is a programme from the German development cooperation that supports entrepreneurship in Africa by leveraging diaspora money transfers. The objective is to improve the employment and income situation of small and micro businesses in Africa (currently Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, and Tunisia)
Through this online platform WIDU.africa, businesses supported by the diaspora (currently from Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland) are subsidized and can receive up to 2,500 euros in grants.
Moreover, customized coaching measures to support the digital and entrepreneurial skills of concerned businesses are also provided. Through a combined grant and coaching approach, the project unlocks potential of entrepreneurs turning their ideas into employment and income.
Over 3,000 businesses are currently supported by WIDU.africa with nearly 6,600 new and sustained jobs created in participating countries in Africa.
WIDU.africa is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
