ADEPT was present at the Diaspora Engagement Forum (DEF 2023) hosted by the African Institute for Remittances (AIR) on 9 June 2023. The focus was on Leveraging Remittances for small-scale Investments in Food Security and Renewable Energy in Africa. Alexis Neuberg, ADEPT’s president and Lily Dubuisson Executive Assistance represented ADEPT in this important event. While addressing the participants on how small-scale investments in food security and renewable energy in Africa can be facilitated, Alexis highlighted that the diaspora organisations be empowered as agents of development. He also explains that the diaspora needs to learn from the organisation’s best practices and communicate them effectively. Alexis also pointed out the “need to optimize our efforts and work together” as civil societies in materializing our projects. Finally, Alexis stated that drafting an investment charter can be a way to strengthen partnerships between the diaspora and home countries.
