ADEPT’s April Webinar in partnership with IOM
UN Global Compact on Migration and Global Forum on Migration and Development
Thursday 27 April 2017 from 03:30 to 05:30 PM British Summer Time
Satellite Meeting in Preparation for the GFMD Civil Society Days
ADEPT’s April webinar will examine the UN Global Compact on Migration and the Global Forum on Migration and Development and explore ways in which diaspora and migrants can help achieve the aims of these meetings and negotiations on migration and development.
The UN Global Compact on Migration will be the first inter-governmentally negotiated agreement, prepared under the auspices of the United Nations, to cover all dimensions of international migration in a holistic and comprehensive manner.
The global compact is a significant opportunity to improve the governance on migration, to address the challenges associated with today’s migration, and to strengthen the contribution of migrants and migration to sustainable development.
The Global Forum on Migration and Development is an intergovernmental and civil society summit which has been taking place since 2007.
The main theme of the Tenth GFMD Civil Society Days summit to be held in Berlin on 29 June to 01 July 2017 will be “Safe, Orderly, Regular Migration Now: Mechanics of a Compact Worth Agreeing to”.
The webinar will be chaired by ADEPT’s Interim Director, Gibril Faal
Speakers include:
- Emer Groarke, Advocacy & Communications Officer at ICMC, GFMD Civil Society Coordinating Office
- Tauhid Pasha, Senior Migration Expert at International Organisation for Migration
