Description | Africa Solidarity Centre Limited ( Africa Centre Ireland), is the first African diaspora led charitable and non-profit organization founded in Ireland in 2000 by a group of African diaspora activists. The diaspora wanted the community to have an active participation and have a voice in Irish society. An enhanced African presence in Ireland means that awareness, contact and exchange need to be central to the mutual advantage of all interested people. This was a key element in the original vision that saw the emergence of the Africa Centre Ireland in the early 2000. The organisation’s vision is of a just, tolerant and inclusive society that recognises and values the mutual benefits of inclusion and participation and is conscious of our global interconnectedness. Furthremore, Africa Centre aims to facilitate the meaningful inclusion of African People in all social, political and economic aspects of life in Ireland and influence development policy in Ireland and in African countries. The organisation is one of the two African diaspora organisations sitting on the African Union Commission Labour Migration Advisory Committee (LMAC), to advise the commission on labour migration issues from a diaspora perspectives. |
