In the run-up to the IMRF that was to take place from 17 to 21 May, ADEPT was invited by Asociación Rumiñahui to dissect its expertise as a regional African diaspora organization. On May 10, the organization presented its report on“Civil society report on the state of compliance with the commitments of the Global Compact on Migration in Spanish Policy” during a hybrid event. This report was prepared in collaboration with Médicos del Mundo, Convive – Fundación CEPAIM, Alianza por la Solidaridad – Action Aid and Red Acoge.
The central theme of the meeting was civil society in the face of the global compact on migration. In the last part of the presentation, ADEPT, represented by its Policy, Advocacy and Partnership Officer, Grégory Dianzenza was endorsed to share its vision on the on “Challenges, Priorities and Opportunities for Regional Platforms in Africa”. In a 5-minute presentation, Grégory explained that the biggest challenge remains the opposing ambitions of all the organisations and networks involved. He then went on to state that ADEPT members’ meetings are the top priority. Finally, he ended the presentation by referring to the opportunity ADEPT has as a representative of Africa and its diaspora to establish partnerships with other major organizations of the world.
