Africa-Europe Diaspora Development Platform (ADEPT)
ADEPT is a service delivery platform working with African Diaspora Development Organisations (ADDOs) in Europe that are active in the development of Africa. ADEPT works and engages with 85 countries (28 EU countries, plus Switzerland and Norway, and 55 African countries) through delivery of services to diaspora organisations and individuals in Europe and Africa. ADEPT’s aim is to improve and enhance the capacity and impact of African diaspora organisations involved in development activities in Africa.
In particular, ADEPT assists Africa Diaspora-Development Organisations (ADDOs) to:
- Optimise their development engagement in Africa
- Professionalise their organisations and activities
- Create effective partnerships in Europe and Africa
- Expand and improve their development activities in Africa
- Influence the policy and practice of development cooperation.
Key Membership Criteria
General Members
According to the ADEPT Statutes, to become a General Member, organisations must:

Be legally registered as a not-for-profit organisation in Europe

Have a majority of trustees “identify themselves as being of African heritage”

Commit to the purpose, aim and services of ADEPT

Pay the membership fee

Deliver development projects in one or more African countries (for platforms or umbrella groups, they must have 10 (ten) or more members delivering projects in African countries).
Associate Members
Organisations that meet the criteria A to E, but DO NOT HAVE development projects in Africa, can be registered as Associate Members, with access to ADEPT services, the right to attend General Assembly meetings, but no right to vote.
Networkers
All organisation interested can apply to be a networker.

- Permitted to use approved ADEPT Associate logo

- Possibility of being co-opted to the ADEPT Advisory Council
- Right to attend and vote at ADEPT AGM
- Can stand for election to the Board of Trustees (BoT)
- Can stand for election to be an officer within the BoT

- Access to general ADEPT services and resources
- Receive information about ADEPT activities
- Take part in policy and general consultations
- Priority access to specially funded ADEPT services

Registration procedure
To complete your membership application please send us by email at info@adept-platform.org, the following documents:
- Completed, signed, scanned copy of the Application Form
- Copy of the organisation’s Statutes / Articles of Association
- Copy of the organisation’s notice/certificate of registration from the official government register (showing registration name, number and date)
- Copy of the organisation’s latest Accounts as filed with the government register/regulator
- Copy of the passport/ID of the person representing the organisation at ADEPT
- Any relevant support or communication document that would allow ADEPT to better know/understand your organisation and the work it is currently doing in Europe and/or in Africa
Website usage
The present Terms of Use govern -and are an integral part of- the contract undersigned by the User and Africa-Europe Diaspora Development Platform [ADEPT] in relation to certain services provided by ADDEPT
The User accepts these Terms of Use unconditionally, whenever he/she is making use of the Website [adept-platform.org] and/or whenever he/she is placing an order. In case of disagreement, the User will refrain from using the Website and placing any orders.
The use of the Website is reserved to adults entitled to undersign contracts, according to Swiss law. Any person accessing the Website is considered to be a User, whenever browsing through it, using one of its functionalities, or placing an order with ADEPT.
Should the present Terms of Use not be respected, ADEPT reserves its right to suspend the access to any Website’s services, without any previous notice.
If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site. The materials contained in this website are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.
Account Terms on the Social Network provided by ADEPT
You may not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose. You must not, in the use of the Service, violate any laws in your jurisdiction (including but not limited to copyright laws).
If you find any link on our Services that is offensive for any reason, you are free to contact and inform us at any time. We will consider requests to remove links, but we are not obligated to do so or to respond to you directly.
Account Suspension and Termination
ADEPT encourages you to report violations of our guidelines and Terms. We reserve the right, at our sole and final discretion, to deactivate, freeze, suspend or terminate any account upon any factual or alleged breach of these Terms. You must notify us immediately of any change in your eligibility to use our platform, or if you suspect a breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.
Users undertaking conducts that may constitute a factual –or even alleged– breach of these Terms, including but not limiting, using automated mechanisms to make fraudulent communications, may become subject to immediate account suspension/termination, at our sole and final discretion, without notice and without responsibility.
You may terminate your account at any time by going to the “delete account” button located inside the “Edit Profile” section which can be accessed through the dropdown at the side of your username. We may terminate or suspend your ADEPT account (on the social network) if you go contrary to any ADEPT policies or for any other reason(s), which we will notify you about.
Copyright and Ownership
When accessing or using the Services, you agree to obey the law and to respect the intellectual property rights of others. Your use of the Services is at all times governed by and subject to laws regarding copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret ownership and use of intellectual property. You agree not to upload, download, display, perform, transmit, or otherwise distribute any information or content in violation of any party’s copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property or proprietary rights. You agree to abide by laws regarding copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret ownership and use of intellectual property, and you shall be solely responsible for any violations of any laws and for any infringements of any intellectual property rights caused by any content you provide, post, or transmit, or that is provided or transmitted using your user name or user ID. The burden of proving that any Content does not violate any laws or intellectual property rights rests solely with you.
We claim no intellectual property rights over the material you provide to the Service. Your profile and materials uploaded and provided remain yours.

The following procedure will apply for any content displayed through the Service that allegedly infringes the intellectual property rights of you or of any third party.
